Stitch a row of running stitches. In the same thread, or a contrasting colour, bring your needle up close to one of your stitches. Pass the needle under each stitch but above the fabric. The thread should not pierce the fabric and should always go in the same direction. You may find it easier to lead with the eye of your needle, or use a blunt-tipped needle to avoid catching the fabric or floss.
