🦊 FREDDIE FOX TOY KNITTING PATTERN (US TERMS) 🦊

🍂 SIZE
This knitting pattern gives instructions for one size of toy fox. However, you can knit him in any yarn size you want, with corresponding needle size, giving a smaller or a larger fox. As a rough guide, the big fox pictured in the pattern was knitted in a bulky yarn on 6mm (US size 10) needles.  He is about 30cm / 12 inches high. If you were to use a sport weight yarn and 3mm (US size 2.5) needles, he would be about half size at 15cm / 6 inches high.
 
🍂 MATERIALS
If knitting in DK (light worsted) weight yarn, you will need approx 30g/75m/1.1oz of the main color.  For a worsted weight you will need approx 75g/100m/2.7oz, and for a bulky yarn, approx 150g/150m/5.3oz. You also need a small amount of white and black for his features.
 
This pattern has instructions to knit using straight needles (flat pieces), OR in the round using a circular needle.  If knitting in the round, you can avoid much of the sewing up!  You will need to use the magic loop technique to knit the small pieces in the round, a tutorial for this is included.  If you are not so comfortable with knitting in the round, or do not have a circular needle handy, then the pattern pieces can be easily knitted on straight needles, and sewn up later.
 
The pattern knits each body part separately, then these are stitched together to create a fox of pleasing structure.  Soft and slightly floppy in the limbs, yet firm enough to sit up unaided.
The tail is made with a sewn pom pom (a sewing machine is ideal, but it can be sewn by hand), and the face embroidered with yarn scraps.

This is not just a knitting pattern, it is a 29 page project book! It contains full instructions on how to create the toy fox, and also descriptions of how to follow the directions and sections of techniques used with pictures and step by step instructions. Great for novice knitters, or if you just need a bit of extra help. But it still works for experienced knitters!
