The Rosa Shawl was inspired by my love of the Arts and Crafts movement from the mid 19th century.  Started in Britain and subsequently spread around the world, it was a desire to move away from factory produced decorative items and return to hand crafted and individually designed objects.  This particular piece takes inspiration from the work of the Glasgow (Scotland, UK) school led by Charles Rennie Mackintosh.  As you create this beautiful work of art to wear on your shoulders, remember that you are creating just that: a work of unique creative art, enjoy every stitch!

The shawl is a triangular design with a design of roses and leaves that is repeated horizontally and then vertically as you work from the bottom tip to the wide top. You may knit the small, medium or large sized version of the shawl by increasing the number of vertical pattern repeats.

As is traditional, the colourwork is worked in the round, so that you only need to use knit stitches. This makes the knitting faster and easier and will require steeking (cutting) when the main colourwork is complete.  Steeking is a straightforward and easy process, that reveals the full beauty of your work.
